Geyserville Resources |
Geyserville!ScenarioThe Geyserville exercise involves a mass casualty trauma incident at a mid-sized tertiary care hospital. The incident is structured to be far more difficult than reasonably managed by a hospital of this size The Geyserville is a fictitious hospital, with a well stocked resource list, including operating rooms, Computed Tomography, and access to all the major specialties Study GroupsGeyserville is suitable for participants of various levels of education. The study protocol has been successfully implemented with medical students, residents, staff physicians, and even administrators In general, the simulation is best managed in teams of 10 to 15 participants. For larger groups, the participants can be split into smaller subgroups of 10 to 15 and several simulations performed concurrently
ReproducibilityIn the Geyserville scenario, all groups start with the same exact hospital resources, same hospital layout, and receive the exact same patients. Each groups success will be dependant upon their own coordinated effort to manage the disaster. In this way, results of each simulation can be compared to the standardized benchmarks developed through repeated use of the same scenario. In this way, objective markers of the groups performance can be established. |
